Mercato settimanale di Alessandria

Mondays and Thursdays (morning and afternoon) and Saturday mornings: Alessandria's general market in Piazza Garibaldi.

Why it's special

Piazza Garibaldi hosts the city's non-food market three days a week, and a separate food market runs in Piazza Marconi every morning except Sunday.

A tip
  • For food, go to Piazza Marconi: Monday to Saturday mornings, plus Monday and Thursday afternoons.
  • Campagna Amica farmers sell in Piazza della Libertà on Friday mornings.

Alessandria's general market fills Piazza Garibaldi three days a week: Monday and Thursday, morning and afternoon, and Saturday morning only. These are the non-food stalls. Some sell second-hand clothes and objects; under the city's market rules these have to be kept apart from new goods and labelled as sanitised.

Food is a separate market. Piazza Marconi has food stalls every morning from Monday to Saturday, and on Monday and Thursday afternoons too. Several neighbourhoods have their own smaller markets, and farmers' groups hold morning markets on set days, including Campagna Amica in Piazza della Libertà on Friday.

If you plan an afternoon visit, check first: the Thursday market in Piazza Garibaldi has been cut back to finish at 14:30 before, as a trial in 2023–24. In 2025 the city also discussed moving the Thursday and Saturday stalls to Piazza della Libertà, with the Monday market staying put; no move had been decided at the time.

The city's monthly markets are the Officina delle Memorie antiques market (first Sunday) and Market 15121 (second Saturday).
