Mercato settimanale di Asti
Wednesday and Saturday mornings: Asti's main market, about 240 stalls in Piazza Campo del Palio, Piazza Libertà and Largo Saracco.
Why it's special
It's the city's big general market, with around 240 stalls. Since June 2026 about 30 of them are back in Piazza Libertà and Largo Saracco, and the rest fill Piazza Campo del Palio.
- In Piazza Campo del Palio the fruit and vegetable stalls are near the stairs, and plants and seeds are grouped on the outer edge.
- The current layout leaves more than half the square free for parking.
Asti's main market runs every Wednesday and Saturday morning. With around 240 stalls it covers the lot: fruit and vegetables, plants and seeds, and general goods.
Since 3 June 2026 the market has been split over two areas. Roughly 210 stalls fill Piazza Campo del Palio, now laid out in rows across the square, and about 30 are back in Piazza Libertà and Largo Saracco. A 2024 reorganisation had moved everything to Campo del Palio, and traders pushed for some stalls to return.
In Piazza Campo del Palio the fruit and vegetable stalls stay near the stairs, and the nurseries and seed sellers are grouped on the outer edge. The new layout keeps more than half the square free for parking.
Big events shift things around. While the stands for the Palio go up in Piazza Alfieri in late summer, the stalls from Piazza Libertà and Largo Saracco move into Piazza Campo del Palio for a few weeks. In 2026 the Saturday market was cancelled on 12 September, when the Festival delle Sagre took over the square.
On the fourth Sunday of the month Piazza Alfieri hosts the city's antiques market.
