Antonio Guarene. Asti e il Palio in un tratto

An exhibition of drawings by Antonio Guarene about Asti and its Palio, at the Museo del Palio in Palazzo Mazzola, open from June 2026 to May 2027.

Why it's special

Guarene is an artist the city has turned to more than once for its Palio: he painted the winner's drape in 2011 and again in 2018, and his drawing of marching chefs is on the 2026 poster of the Festival delle Sagre. This show gathers his drawings of the city and the race in the museum dedicated to the Palio, where entry is free.

Antonio Guarene's drawings are a familiar sight in Asti: he painted the drape awarded to the winner of the Palio di Asti in 2011 and again in 2018, and his parade of cartoon chefs is on the 2026 poster of the Festival delle Sagre. This exhibition brings together his drawings of the city and of the Palio.

It's in the Museo del Palio, housed in the fifteenth-century Palazzo Mazzola, which is also the seat of the city's historical archive. The museum tells the story of the race and of Asti with documents, old posters and past palio drapes, so the exhibition sits among the history it draws on. Entry is free.
