Barbatellando — Festa della Vendemmia
Cascina la Barbatella's harvest party above Nizza Monferrato — the Fraschette dei Castelli Romani brought to the vineyard for street food from Sora Lella's Roman recipes, poured with the estate's own Nizza DOCG and Barbera. Free entry.
Why it's special
A free, informal way to toast the vintage at a benchmark Nizza estate: the family opens the cascina for a Roman-style fraschetta — cured meats, porchetta and pasta from the Castelli Romani tradition — alongside its own Barbera and Nizza DOCG, on the harvest weekend. A different night from the July Barbatellando party or the vineyard picnic.
Programme · 2026
- Free entry, no booking required — but the estate appreciates a heads-up that you're coming so they can host you well (phone +39 345 041 3704 / +39 349 416 5241, labarbatella@labarbatella.com).
- At the cascina on Strada Annunziata a few minutes out of Nizza — drive.
At harvest time, Cascina la Barbatella throws open its cascina above Nizza Monferrato for a Festa della Vendemmia with a Roman twist: the fraschette of the Castelli Romani — the old wine-shacks that serve porchetta, cured meats and simple pasta — brought north to the vineyard. Street food from the recipes of the legendary Sora Lella comes out alongside the estate's own Nizza DOCG and Barbera d'Asti, on an evening to toast the new vintage.
Entry is free and you don't need to book, though the family appreciates knowing you're coming so they can look after you. The estate sits a few minutes out of town on Strada Annunziata — drive out.
It's the harvest-night cousin of the summer Barbatellando the Party and the daytime Pic-nic in Vigna; more around Nizza Monferrato.
