Caccia al Tesoro di Halloween, Acqui Terme

Why it's special

It's the town's own Halloween, run by local volunteers rather than a venue: children in costume follow clues from shop to shop through the old streets around La Bollente, every group that completes the map wins, and it costs nothing.

• Sign up for free at the start in Piazza della Bollente; the hunt takes about an hour and follows the quietest streets, and an adult should go with each group of children.

• Costumes are the whole point, so come dressed up.

On Halloween afternoon the centre of Acqui Terme fills with small witches and skeletons. The Caccia al Tesoro di Halloween is run by the local volunteer association Noi CuoreGiovane: the usual dolcetto o scherzetto round the shops becomes a proper treasure hunt, with a clue to find at each participating shop and a map to complete stage by stage.

Groups sign up for free at the start in Piazza della Bollente, beside the steaming La Bollente spring, and the route takes about an hour through the quieter streets of the old town. An adult should go along with each group, and every group that finishes the map wins a prize. In 2026 it reaches its 11th edition, on Saturday 31 October from 15:30.

It's a local children's afternoon rather than a big show, but if you're in Acqui with kids on 31 October it's the thing to do. In November the town moves on to the Fiera di Santa Caterina and its luna park.
