Fiera di Santa Caterina — Acqui Terme
Acqui's traditional November fair: three days of market stalls filling the centre (Corso Cavour, Corso Dante, Piazza Italia, Via XX Settembre and Corso Bagni), with a luna park set up in Piazza Don Dolermo for the fortnight around it.
Why it's special
It's the town's big autumn trading fair, one of Acqui's two market fairs (with San Guido in July) on the Regione Piemonte calendar of sagre and fiere mercato, and for three days it turns the whole centre into one long market street. The funfair makes it a family outing as much as a shopping one.
Programme · 2025
- The stalls stretch along Corso Cavour, Corso Dante, Piazza Italia, Via XX Settembre and Corso Bagni, so park outside the centre and walk the loop.
- The rides are in Piazza Don Dolermo.
- The Tuesday also has the usual weekly market.
Every November, a week or so before the Acqui & Sapori truffle weekend, Acqui Terme holds its old autumn fair. The Fiera di Santa Caterina is a three-day market rather than a festival: food and non-food stalls fill Corso Cavour, Corso Dante, Piazza Italia, Via XX Settembre and Corso Bagni, so the whole centre becomes one long walk of bancarelle. Along with the July Fiera di San Guido, it's one of the town's two market fairs on the regional calendar.
A luna park sets up in Piazza Don Dolermo for about ten days around it. The fair usually runs Sunday to Tuesday in mid-November, and on the Tuesday the regular weekly market carries on alongside it.
Come on foot from Piazza Italia and work out along the corsi, then finish at La Bollente for a look at the steaming spring.
