Why it's special
It's the town's own carnival rather than a parade: the Fondazione Don Celi, the Pro Loco, the parish youth groups and the oratorio volunteers turn the courtyards into a playground for an afternoon, and the Pro Loco's farinata comes out of the oven for the merenda.

- It starts at 14:30 and entry is free.
- Come in costume, but leave the spray cans and firecrackers at home: they're banned.
- If it rains it moves to the following Sunday (that happened in 2024).
Carnival in Nizza Monferrato is a children's party more than a parade. On a Sunday afternoon in February the Fondazione Don Celi teams up with the town's Pro Loco, the parish youth groups and the volunteers of the Oratorio Don Bosco to fill the oratorio's courtyards with games for every age, prizes, masks and a big merenda: a Nutella party and farinata made by the Pro Loco.
Entry is free and costumes are welcome; spray streamers, firecrackers and the like are not allowed. If the weather is bad the party moves to the following Sunday. The date is announced in the local press a week or two ahead, and the latest one is in the table above.
Nearby, Incisa Scapaccino holds its own Pro Loco carnival party around the same time of year.
