Barbatella — I Colori dell'Autunno
A booked Sunday lunch at the Barbatella estate above Nizza Monferrato: four autumn dishes, from white truffle to bonèt, each paired with one of the winery's Barbera d'Asti or Nizza DOCG wines.
Why it's special
It's one of the estate's 'special Sunday tastings', timed for when the vineyards outside turn red and gold. The wine list runs through two vintages of La Vigna dell'Angelo Nizza DOCG and the Riserva, poured with family recipes like risotto with ossobuco, so you taste the same vineyard across the years.

I Colori dell'Autunno is an autumn Sunday lunch at Cascina la Barbatella, the estate on Strada Annunziata just outside Nizza Monferrato. It belongs to the winery's series of special Sunday tastings, and this one is timed for the weeks when the vineyards change colour before the winter rest.
The format is a set lunch where every course comes with its own wine. It opens with a glass of La Badessa, then moves through the estate's Barbera d'Asti and its Nizza DOCG, La Vigna dell'Angelo, in two vintages side by side and finally as a Riserva. The food is seasonal Piedmontese and partly family recipes: white truffle over a potato and Castelmagno starter, risotto with ossobuco, and bonèt to finish.
Places are limited and must be booked in advance. This year's menu and price are in the editions table above. For the estate's summer events, see Pic-nic in Vigna and Barbatellando the Party.
