Sagra del Vitello di razza Piemontese (Montechiaro d'Asti)
The Pro Loco of Montechiaro d'Asti's summer sagra in early July: a whole calf of the Piedmontese breed roasted on the spit for close to 24 hours, burgers of the same beef, and three evenings of music.
Why it's special
It's built around the Fassona, the Razza Piemontese, the local beef breed: the veal turns on the spit for almost a day before it's served.
Programme · 2026
Three evenings of the Pro Loco's food stand and music.
- The spit-roast is the dish to come for; there are also burgers.
- In 2024 the Friday was a kitchen, cocktail and DJ-set night and the main concert came on the Sunday.
- Check the Pro Loco's Instagram for the year's line-up.
The Pro Loco of Montechiaro d'Asti opens its summer with a sagra devoted to the Razza Piemontese, the white beef breed of Piedmont. A calf is roasted on the spit for close to 24 hours before it's carved, and the same beef goes into burgers for those who want something quicker.
The sagra runs over three evenings in early July, with music each night, from DJ sets to a headline band. At the end of August the village has its patronal feast of San Bernardo, and in November its white-truffle fair.
